Everyday I Have
The Blues
(Peter Chatman (aka Memphis Slim); 1950)
IJR's version
features singer Mary Alice Brown.
While Joe William's
audience loved listening to the star sing this, his signature blues
song, his mother used to get very upset hearing him sing such a sad
tune and after the performance would reassure him of her love.
Peter Chatman's
real name was John Len Chatman, but he's best known as Memphis Slim.
At age 16 Chatman
left his home in Tennessee to hobo through the south working in dives,
joints, and dance halls.
